You might have noticed that for Word and Excel there are two kind of activities available in Liberty RPA Studio:

Excel activities <> Excel File activities

Word activities <> Word File activities
Let’s take Excel as an example, as identical for Word. The main difference is that you have more flexibility in operations with the Excel activities. There are more activities and you have more options to do advanced things such as writing formulas or running macros. The big downside however is that you need the Microsoft Office package installed on the system the robot is operating on.
When using the Excel File activities you don’t need Microsoft Office, the activity directly works woth the .xlsx files (or .docx files for Word). This is useful when you don’t have acces to Microsoft Office.
