AppShare Managers Choice for June is – Comments Widget

Hey everyone,

Have you spotted our new section on the AppShare? We now have a “Managers Choice”. Every month our AppShare manager picks what their top choice of feature will be.

For the month of June, we have none other than the Comments Widget.

So, what is this magnificent widget all about? Well, with the Comments Widget you can enable an easy way for users to share comments, or discussions as well as allowing them to interact with each other.

It has also got a built-in user searching ability that will allow you to tag users within a comment. You do need to use the “@” character within the text field for the user list to show.

You can check Comments Widget here

I must say this is an excellent widget – Thanks Netcall.

I downloaded yesterday, installed and linked it to our Case object on our Enquiries host and it works really well.

I did add a couple of things to make it work how I wanted.

  • Added a rule/message to notify users when they are tagged in a comment so they are aware of comment.
  • Added an API Call/Function to sync Comments (from host to central), so we can have an overview of comments held in central.

I did think about setting this up directly on the Central host, but it made more sense to have comments functionality embedded into the Case view page, and I also wanted to use other host related functionality such as Tasks and Messaging.

And currently just a count of comments on Central on Cases page.

Hello Jonathan, thank you so much for your kind post.

I’m delighted that you like the Comments Widget. Each month I try to find something that I personally feel is worthy of highlighting. I try to find things that might perhaps go unnoticed, but would genuinely add value to the work you, our Community Members, do with the Liberty Suite of products. Please continue to keep an eye on this section as I know what’s in the pipeline and coming soon. We have some real game changers coming your way.

Messages like yours are gratefully received and highly appreciated.

Many Thanks and Best Regards - Mark Pearson
