Good afternoon.
We’re introducing webchat on our website.
What I’ve noticed in testing is that if a customer does not clear their browser cache, if they start a subsequent webchat, even after closing the browser, the new webchat just continues from the end point of the previous conversation and retains the name and address details provided in the previous chat.
Have I missed something in setting this up or is there a way to make the webchat
- Appear to be a new conversation and
- Clear the attribute fields so we can ask for them again
Hope that makes sense.
Hi there, @Eanna11. Liberty Connect uses the user’s browser cache to store their session. It is also an asynchronous messaging tool, which means it continues with a persistent session until the session is cleared by the User or Agent. (This means you can chat when there is no user or agent and then return to the site and carry on).
So, to clear the user’s session, you would need to set up your website to clear the user’s session data when they leave.
This page will help your website dev’s to set this up

Let us know if you have any queries on this, happy to have a call if easier.
Kind Regards.
Jonathan
Thanks Jonathan. That’s helpful.
I think a chat would be really useful though and I’ll reach out to you.
Thanks.
