Importing into object database

Hi, we have just moved from using a sharepoint system to using liberty create, i was wondering if it is possible to import the data we currently have in sharepoint into liberty create and if so, what format is needed

Hello - I assume you’re referring to a sharepoint workflow system? So case files in various states?

I would suggest the simplest approach is to get the data into CSV / XLSX files from sharepoint, then develop import files in Create to consume those CSV / XLSX files.

The challenge with any migration is always the data mapping; what data did you have in the old system, what have you got in the new system, and what is the gap between them? Where things are 1:1 the migration will be straightforward, but I would be surprised if you’ve not making improvements to your processes as you switch technology, so there may need to be some transformation of the associated data.

Unfortunately it isn’t simple, the data is from an old SharePoint2010 site linked with InfoPath, we’ve been able to get the data out but they are individual XLM files for each individual item but at the very least this can be a starting point to look into, thank you

That definitely makes it trickier. If you can work with the XLM files to convert them into a more usable format, then importing them into Create will be the easy bit…

Sorry I realise I mis-read the file type, it is actually .xml

That’s much easier, you can very plausibly convert from XML to CSV. Your challenge is that you’ve got one file per case, but you could import them one at a time - but I’d suggest looking into creating one file with all the XMLs converted into CSV or XLSX. And in doing so, you can probably do any transformation/mapping required to get to the new case set-up.

Hi All,

Scott’s approach is the best option in my opinion. Just one thing to bear in mind. Are any of the records you are proposing to import, linked/related to other records in the legacy system? If so, you will need to build that linking into your Create import model, so the records are automatically linked upon importing!

There shouldn’t be any links between records, but that is something I will keep in mind when going through the data.

Now I have my data how do I go about importing the data into Liberty Create? This is a first time I’ve had to do this so I’m unfamiliar

Hi Alex,

If you would like to arrange a Teams meeting with me, I can give you an overview of how to achieve this. It’s not something I can easily do via Forum posts as there are too many variables. If you wish to do this, please email me at mark.pearson@netcall.com

Best Regards - MP

Hi Mark,

That would be great, I’ll send you an email now

Hi @Alex_GSA ,

Apologies, @mark.pearson is currently having some connectivity issues. He has said that he will drop you a message once it’s solved and he’s back online.

Hi Alex, thanks for the Teams call earlier. I hope I managed to give you enough guidance to be able to move forward with this issue. If you run into further issues, please reach out and we can do another Teams call. Thanks for reaching out to the Community Forum for help!

Best Regards - MP
